24 children had a magical day at Wizard School on May 9 at Port Hardy Civic Centre.

Led by Lee Edward Födi, author and illustrator of Spell Sweeper, The Secret of Zoone, and Kendra Kandlestar, the young wizards wrote their welcome letter, created a wax seal for that letter, created mini broomsticks, and created potions for a spell.
"It was a busy and very fun day!" said Literacy Outreach Coordinator Kelly Anderson, Mount Waddington Family Literacy Society, who arranged the visit with Raise-a-Reader funding from Decoda Literacy Solutions.
One mom reflected: "He loved it! He was telling us all about the owl delivering the letters, and then showed us how he thinks a dragon scratched the letter he received. He told us about the making the special wax stamps, he really liked that part. He loved making the crafts, (and brought home extra for his brother). He liked Lee, he said he was really nice and funny."

The day before, Lee was at Eagle View Elementary presenting to students from EVES, Fort Rupert Elementary School and Gwa'sala-'Nakwaxda'xw Nations School.
"Teachers were astounded that he kept their attention for nearly an hour and a half!" said Kelly.
