A fantastic turnout of 170 people shared activities, learning and laughs at the Mount Waddington Literacy Fair on March 2 at the Port Hardy Civic Centre, hosted by Mount Waddington Family Literacy Society (MWFLS).
“The literacy fair this year was a grand success – from treasure hunts to a book reading, and many take home items, there were a lot of activities for children to do,” said Kelly Anderson, Mother Goose Coordinator at MWFLS. “My favourite moment has to be watching kids realize that they can choose any book they like from the book table, as we are able to purchase them outright and give them out for free. There is always a large amount of excitement on their faces as they pick and run to the tables to start reading.”
Ninety children received a new free book of their choice!
