Activities, resources and free books at 2024 Literacy Fair

ree

A fantastic turnout of 170 people shared activities, learning and laughs at the Mount Waddington Literacy Fair on March 2 at the Port Hardy Civic Centre, hosted by Mount Waddington Family Literacy Society (MWFLS).

“The literacy fair this year was a grand success – from treasure hunts to a book reading, and many take home items, there were a lot of activities for children to do,” said Kelly Anderson, Mother Goose Coordinator at MWFLS. “My favourite moment has to be watching kids realize that they can choose any book they like from the book table, as we are able to purchase them outright and give them out for free. There is always a large amount of excitement on their faces as they pick and run to the tables to start reading.”

Ninety children received a new free book of their choice!

Thanks to these organizations for joining us to share their activities, services and resources:

As a wellness advocate, I’d like to share a couple of resources that might be of interest to parents and educators alike. For anyone interested in natural health options, the Diatomaceous Earth for Ants is a great product for not only pest control but also as part of a broader wellness approach. It’s safe, natural, and effective for addressing internal parasites, making it an excellent choice for families looking to maintain a healthy environment.

It's inspiring to see such initiatives that engage children in creative activities. As a parent, I always look for opportunities to nurture my child's creativity, and workshops like these are a fantastic way to do so. In our community, supporting local businesses is equally important. For instance, if you're in need of professional cleaning services, house cleaning Queen Creek offers exceptional services. Their team is reliable and thorough, ensuring your home is spotless. Additionally, for those in Queen Creek, AZ, house cleaning Queen Creek AZ provides top-notch house cleaning services tailored to your needs. Supporting such local businesses helps strengthen our community.

"This year's Literacy Fair was a wonderful success, bringing the community together with engaging activities and the joy of free books for children. It's heartwarming to see organizations like Mount Waddington Family Literacy Society fostering such inclusive events. In addition to nurturing young minds, it's essential to support the mental well-being of families. For couples seeking to strengthen their relationships, relationship counseling Athens offers compassionate guidance. Moreover, for individuals concerned about attention or behavioral challenges, ADHD testing Athens GA provides thorough assessments and support. These resources complement the holistic approach to family well-being that events like the Literacy Fair promote.
