Books, activities, fundraising fun and a winning booth at the Fall Fair

The MWFLS team celebrated Literacy Month at the Mount Waddington Regional Fall Fair, September 12-13, with a free book for 71 children and teens. We sold fundraising Literacy Socks from Blue Sky Clothing, had a creative station for button-making, a Spin to Win game, and our booth won a prize!

"Winning first place in the non-profit booth category was such an honor, but the real highlight was seeing our community come together! This was truly a complete team effort—a heartfelt thank you to our dedicated staff, board members, and volunteers who helped set up and ran our booth," said MWFLS Executive Director Jessica Brown.

"Seeing the incredible creativity of the kids and youth at our button-making station was an absolute delight!" said Jessica.
Fundraising Fun
Along with literacy socks and sticker sales, MWFLS had a Spin to Win game - a human version of a slot machine where the player wins a pair of literacy socks if both windows show the same colour sock. Total funds raised was $434.80 for local literacy programs.

"We are so grateful to the Port McNeill PAC for lending us their Spin and Win game, the Mount Waddington Regional Fall Fair organizers for putting together a wonderful fair, and Port Hardy Recreation for hosting the event. We also deeply appreciate the gracious community support, donations, and fundraising," said Jessica.
